One Ponytail: 3 Different Looks For New Years Eve
Today's blog is a video and step-by-step tutorial on how you can wear our Ponytails 3 different ways for your New Years Eve events and festivities.
Can you believe that Christmas is in 2 days? We know we can't! The year of 2020 is one I think a lot of us won't forget about anytime soon, we also think it's safe to say that everybody learnt something this year whether it be about themselves, the world or something knowledgeable. 2020 also brought a lot of sadness and hardship to the world but the whole team at Hey Stacey is incredibly proud to have launched in May this year and to have received an abundance of love, support and customers that we are still to this day, blown away to have received. 2020 was a year of endings but also new beginnings and with that positive attitude we've noticed in a majority of the world, we can't wait to see what 2021 brings in - what will happen next?
Depending where you are in the world and the restrictions allocated to your location, New Years Eve and even Christmas might be a little different from what you're used to. Hey Stacey is based in New South Wales, Australia and depending whereabouts you are in Australia differs from what you can and can't do. So today we've created a step-by-step tutorial that is super easy to achieve and will add a little luxury to any of your outfits and to any of your plans - whether you're at home with loved ones or you're out and about. And yes, there is sparkle for anyone that wants it.
LOOK ONE - Ponytail Goals
Step One:
Begin your look by creating your foundation, your base if you will. Start by putting your natural hair into a high ponytail and securing it with an elastic. You can go to Ariana Grande heights with where you secure your hair or you can do a subtle, sleek low ponytail.
Step Two:
Once you're happy with your ponytail, prepare your Hey Stacey ponytail extensions - depending on your look, you can curl your ponytail or keep it straight. To apply your Hey Stacey ponytail, simply slide the clip on the ponytail into the middle of your secured hair and tightly wrap the extensions around your natural hair. It is very important to ensure the velcro on the ponytail are touching, this is what will make it secure and comfortable when worn. Once you're happy with your ponytail, gently brush your hair to blend it within the ponytail piece and hide away your natural hair.
Step Three:
Use hairspray and a teasing brush to secure away any fly aways and loose hairs to give a sleek, smooth finish to your overall look.
LOOK TWO - Fun Bun
Step One:
Repeat step one from look one by putting your natural hair into a high ponytail and securing it with an elastic. We have created a high bun however if you want to achieve a lower bun, we recommend parting your hair down the middle and securing your hair in a low ponytail before proceeding onto step two.
Step Two:
Before teasing your hair and to really achieve that effortless messy bun look, brush out any knots or tangles in your ponytail to have a fresh base to work with. Use a teasing brush to gentle tease your ponytail, this will add volume to your bun and give an overall effortless messy look. You can of course skip this step if you would like a neat and smooth bun instead of a messy bun.
Step Three:
Once you've put in your ponytail extension, twist your ponytail and then wrap it around your hair to create a bun. Once you're happy with the placement secure your hair with bobby pins to make sure your hair doesn't move - no one want's an unravelling bun! If you're going for the effortless messy bun like our tutorial, take your time once you've secured your hair to pull at it in places to make strands looser than others. Trick tip: add hairspray onto the bun and once it's tacky, pull at the bun to create those looser strands, you can also use your fingers to add texture and zhuzh your bun to add to the effortless feel.
Step Four:
Instead of using normal bobby pins, replace them for something a little more decorative and fun - we used hair accessories from our favourite hair fashion brand, Evalina. You can purchase Evalina exclusively at AMR Hair And Beauty Supplies but good news... a website is launching soon for all things Evalina! In our tutorial we used Evalina's Sweet Word hair clip and Shine Bright Rhinestone hair pins to secure any loose hairs from behind.
LOOK THREE - Tinsel Town
Step One:
Repeat step one from look one by putting your natural hair into a high ponytail and securing it with an elastic.
Step Two:
Use any type of hair tinsel and neatly tie it in a knot around the clip on your ponytail hair extension - don't use too much that the clip won't slide into your hair smoothly or be too loose. Apply the ponytail extension the same way you would normally and ensure it's secured extra tight with the added tinsel.
Step Three:
Once secured, plait your ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Gently tug at the plait to loosen the hair and adjust the tinsel in your hair to ensure it is peeking through before the next step of wrapping it around into a bun. Depending on how much tinsel you want to be seen will be how much tugging of your plait and bringing the tinsel through.
Step Four:
Wrap the braid around your head to create a bun and secure it with bobby pins. Once you feel it's secure enough, use the same technique as the previous bun tutorial and pull at your bun to create an effortless look. Once you're happy with the placement, you can pull at the tinsel to allow more peek-a-boo pieces and for your bun to sparkle and shine.
Step Five:
Using a teasing comb, apply hairspray onto the brush and tuck away flyaways and have a more sleek base to make your tinsel bun more prominent.
And there you have it! One ponytail with three fun looks for the festive season but don't just think you can only rock these looks during the Christmas holidays, these looks can be worn all year round, to any event or occasion!
